Doge tablet

This tablet was provided to me by a contact at a university anthropology department. It was found recently and has yet to be thoroughly studied by experts. My friend got me both a plaster cast and a rough translation of it, though, and it's very interesting to say the least.

The translator was puzzled by this mark at the bottom:

They have told me that this mark is not a symbol that they know, and that it is mostly likely a signature of sorts -- although its form is unusual to them and they have seen nothing quite like it.

Here is the rough translation of the tablet:
Although he (Sibat Ilnu) was blessed with great powers of observation, he was cursed by the body and language of a dog. He could not form proper words, and was made to speak as if he were a simpleton.
He suffered greatly in his attempts to communicate.
Later he was known by all and despite being only a dog of simple language he was revered by the world.
